The Missing Pieces of Your Soul

What Is Soul Retrieval: A Story of Healing and Wholeness

I have been on the journey of reclaiming my life, my light, my essence — the power of who I really am — since I was a young woman, maybe 18 or 19 years old. That was when I realized that being the child of an alcoholic was not what every child grew up with, and I began to understand the impact it had on me.

That discovery began my therapy years, which have continued in different ways all my life. Therapy helped me see myself through new lenses, recognize the impacts, and slowly work to release and heal them. Looking back, I see now that this was the beginning of a lifelong reclamation — reclaiming my strengths, my humor, the characteristics of my being that had gone underground in childhood so I could stay safe.

In many ways, my life has felt like a scavenger hunt for my own soul. There are seasons when we lean into the deep work of healing, and seasons when we are simply living. Yet in the living, things happen — heartbreaks, traumas, quiet losses — and parts of us fragment, break away, or shatter without us even realizing it. And over time, those fragments leave us with a quiet ache, the sense that something vital has gone missing.

Living with that feeling of being fragmented, not whole, is how I came to explore the concept of soul retrieval. And maybe you are arriving here the same way, sensing that part of you has been left behind, and wondering how to bring it home again.

My Own Soul Retrieval Experience

I was in my late 40s when I had my first Soul Retrieval with an amazing Shamanic Practitioner in Connecticut. I had no idea what to expect, yet I knew I was ready. She used drumming and trance work to journey backwards into my timeline where through visions she was able to connect with younger versions of me in this lifetime as Elaine. They were beautiful, sweet, innocent pieces that had been fragmented off through tragic and traumatic early childhood experiences.

One of the most vivid moments was when she described a tiny big-eyed version of me, maybe three or four years old, who led her into a playhouse and proudly showed her everything she could make — art, clay, little sculptures. Over and over, she said I kept declaring, “Look what I can do. Look what I can do.” I was so proud and excited.

And then, as she moved forward in time, she came upon that same little me but now sitting very solemn, head hanging low. I looked up slightly and said to her repeatedly, “There’s no place for that here,” referring to the previous energy of creativity and joy.

That memory has never left me. It reminded me of my original innocence, joy, and creativity, and I could feel how sad the solemn little me had become.

As my session continued, she met and connected with other "Little Laineys." Each one a fragment, a point of loss or pain or trauma. At first she would speak with them, listen, comfort, and gently invite them to join her. She took their tiny hands, gathered them together, and brought them forward in time.

At the end of this very tender and sacred journey, she gently returned all those pieces to me. As a part of the shamanic ritual, she mailed a stone to me which she had held in her hands during the session, representing the way she had gathered me up one by one and returned me to my wholeness. I was instructed to sleep with it under my pillow and keep it near my heart for 30 days.

The Deeper Gift of Soul Retrieval

That soul retrieval session not only brought back parts of me I had forgotten, it also showed me the deeper meaning of this work. Soul retrieval is about more than healing wounds. It is about remembering our full potential, and it is about wholeness.

I am a visual thinker, and I loved seeing and feeling those little versions of me gather together, holding hands, stepping into the present moment. Their innocence and joy were reminders of the wholeness I had almost forgotten.

Soul retrieval is about reclaiming our full soul selves. Sometimes that means meeting younger parts who were wounded, sad, or frightened. Other times it means reconnecting with creativity, joy, or playfulness. Always, it is about inviting those pieces home so that we can live from safety and integration in the present moment.

After this sacred experience, I absolutely experienced a lasting shift. Not overnight, but over the next six or eight months, I felt lighter, more alive, more whole.

That’s the miracle of this work.

Why This Matters Now

One message I give all of my clients, no matter where they are on their healing journey, we are living in a time on Earth that is unlike any before — a time of accelerated healing. Channeled messages from higher light beings consistently encourage us to move into this deeper work now, because the support from higher vibrations is profound — more so than at any other time in history. Soul retrieval is one of the ways we can step into that invitation. You are invited to live a fuller, more aligned life — to welcome home the pieces of yourself that are ready, and to move forward with more lightness, creativity, and presence.

Common Questions About Soul Retrieval

How do I know if I’ve lost part of my soul?

Many people describe it as a sense that something essential is missing. You might feel like you’re going through life on autopilot, as if your spark or creativity has gone dim. It can feel like a disconnection from yourself, or like part of you got left behind in a moment of trauma, loss, or heartbreak.

What are the symptoms of soul loss?

You may simply feel as though something is missing. Beyond that, soul loss can appear as chronic fatigue, lingering sadness, difficulty forming relationships, or repeating painful patterns. Some people notice gaps in memory, or feel like they live outside their body. Others simply sense that they’re not fully “here.”

Is soul retrieval safe?

Yes. Every session is guided by your highest being, your soul self. That presence determines what is ready to be healed and only brings forward what you are prepared to integrate. There is no way to fail at soul retrieval — the simple act of inviting your soul’s presence sets the work in motion. Each session unfolds in alignment with your own highest guidance, which ensures that the healing is individually paced, safe, and resonant.

Can soul retrieval help with childhood trauma?

Yes. Many soul fragments separate in childhood, when our systems couldn’t handle overwhelm. Soul retrieval gently restores those younger parts, bringing innocence, creativity, and safety back into the body. Your present-day self becomes the one who welcomes them home.

Your Invitation to Begin

Soul retrieval is one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself: the gift of becoming fully yourself again. If you’re feeling the call — or simply feeling curious — I invite you to take the next step by scheduling a Free Discovery Call. Each of my hypnotherapy sessions begins here, with a discovery call. This first conversation is where we connect, build resonance, and create a plan that aligns with your soul’s timing and what you are ready to receive.

I have been guiding clients for more than ten years through the powerful healing dynamics of Soul Retrieval, Past Life Regression, Ancestral Healing, and Life Between Lives journeys. These sessions are deeply impactful. Clients often describe feeling lighter, more peaceful, more connected to themselves, and newly hopeful about what’s possible. Many share that they experience a sense of clarity and homecoming that stays with them long after the session.

In our discovery call, we will explore what’s possible, talk through your needs, and prepare the way for you to step into the new you — lighter, freer, more connected to your potential, and more at home in your own being.
